Unlocking Quicken: Reinstalling an Upgrade or Reinstalling From a CD

Unlock Quicken Again To Reinstall an Upgrade

If you purchased an unlock code to upgrade Quicken (for example, to upgrade Quicken Deluxe 2011 to the 2011 Premier version), you can reinstall that same upgrade and unlock it again free of charge. However, you cannot use the same code to unlock a newly purchased or different upgrade (for example, an upgrade from Quicken 2010 to Quicken 2011).

To reinstall Quicken or install it on a new computer using your original CD, you must unlock Quicken again to gain access to the additional features of the upgrade. See Adding features to Quicken.

  • Using the Unlock Again option in Quicken

    You might be prompted for your Quicken CD during this process.

    1. Select the Help menu and select Unlock Again.
    2. Select Go Online and click Continue or Next.
    3. Enter your member ID or password.
    4. In the My Unlocks section of the My Account page, locate your order.
    5. Click View Details to see your unlock code.
    6. Select the Quicken Help menu and select Unlock Again.
    7. Select Enter Code and enter the unlock code.
    8. Click Continue or Next and follow the on-screen prompts.

Unlock Quicken Again When Reinstalling From a CD

  • Reinstalling Quicken on the same computer
    1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
    2. When the Quicken Install Wizard opens, click Next.
    3. Select Reinstall a copy of Quicken and click Next.
    4. In the Unlock Code field, enter the unlock code provided on your purchase confirmation e-mail you received when you purchased Quicken. If you do not have the unlock code, follow steps 2 - 7 in "Reinstalling Quicken on a new computer" below.
    5. Click Next and follow the remaining steps in the install wizard.
  • Reinstalling Quicken on a new computer
    1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
    2. When the Quicken Install Wizard opens, select Buy and Install Quicken.
    3. Click Sign In (Do not complete purchase steps again).
    4. Under My Account /Order Status; enter the username and password you used when you purchased Quicken.
    5. Click the My Downloads and Unlocks tab.
    6. In the My Unlock section, click Unlock Again. A dialog box with the new unlock code appears.
    7. Copy the new unlock code and paste it in the Unlock field on the installation window.
    8. Click Next and follow the remaining steps in the install wizard.
