You can create a new Quicken data file that uses all new accounts, or one that uses existing accounts.
Note: A Quicken data file is a collection of Quicken accounts, while a Quicken account is generally used to track a particular type of transaction. Please verify that you want to create a new data file and not a new account.
To create a new data file:
Select the Quicken File menu and select New > New Quicken File.
Enter the name of the new file. Do not use any of the following characters: *,?, <, >, |, ", :, \, /, additionally, do not add the .qdf extension, because Quicken automatically does it for you.
Click OK to create a new file, and then follow the Guided Setup instructions to create new accounts.
Note: Quicken can display up to 50 data files in one directory. If you use more than 50 data files, store your files in more than one directory.
