Quicken 2010 Release Notes

Release 10 Notes (June 2010)

Investments

  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would sometimes record a Miscellaneous Expense (MiscExp) transaction when accepting downloaded investment transactions.
  • Fixed an issue where Quicken would crash from a security with a long ticker symbol or name.
  • Resolved an issue where Day/Gain Loss would not calculate correctly in some instances when subtotaling by Security.

File Management

  • Added the Find Files feature to the File Menu when a Quicken data file is not open.
  • Fixed an issue where Quicken could not find your last opened file and displayed the "New to Quicken" screen.

Release 9 Notes 

  • Resolved some large font issues under Windows 7.
  • Improved the delete error message in the category list to inform you when a category is in use for the category or subcategory.
  • Fixed a problem where Quicken reported the first post dated expense as the date of the next income on What's Left Snapshot.
  • Resolved a refresh problem where account bar totals didn’t update when switching between current and ending balance.
  • Added Low balance column to details of What’s Left snapshot on Home Page.
  • Resolved a refresh issue where “Uncategorized Categories” appears in “See where you money goes” snapshot even though all transactions have been categorized.
  • Fixed a problem where the Total Market Value in the Investment Transactions log did not update after entering a price manually.
  • Resolved a calculation issue for Day/Gain Loss%.
  • Fixed ESPP entry issue where Quicken incorrectly prevented entry for valid discount prices.
  • Resolved an issue where the font color made QuickZoom reports hard to read.
  • Fixed an issue where the last user defined category would not appear on a report.
  • Fixed an issue where some types of normally hidden investment transactions that appeared on the Investment Transaction report (and also appear in the user’s register) do not also appear on the Transactions report when that report is used to view Investment Transactions.
  • Resolved an instance where Quicken incorrectly said a Read/Write CD drive was read only.
  • Improved validate to find more types of damage in the data file. Improvements included finding additional damage to online banking records, finding and fixing transactions that were incorrectly marked in the database as “voided” and reporting on future prices in the security price histories. Also resolved an issue where validate was incorrectly saying it fixed damage with no user required action, when there was no underlying issue.
  • Fixed a problem where the “Add date to backup name” was incorrectly deselected when doing a backup to different location than previous backup.
  • Resolved a defect where variable scheduled reminders appeared in the calendar with the wrong color.
  • Added the ability to launch the full Quicken Online Backup program from the Quicken program group in the Windows Start menu.
  • Resolved an issue where EWC-DC mismatch error appeared incorrectly while downloading data to Quicken.
  • Fixed a crash while importing Turbo Tax files with long file names to Quicken.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.

Release 8 Notes

  • The balance column displays independent of the register sort.
  • Added an option to hide the banking register memo column while in single line mode. To control whether the memo field is displayed go to Register Preferences
  • Fixed a defect where Quicken would not properly delete a transfer from a receiving account when changing changing the transfer account to a category using the Examine your Spending tool
  • Fixed an issue where the second copy of a backup would not appear on the CD when backing up when using Windows 7.
  • Resolved an issue where bills with only one payment per year could not be updated from Stay on Top of Monthly Bills snapshot.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred in Compare to Register while accepting an updated payment status.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.

Release 7 Notes

  • Fixed a problem where Quicken would not backup more than one time to a CD..
  • Resolved an issue where Quicken could not backup files with long file names on certain CD Drives.
  • Changed the backup file name format to yyyy-mm-dd.qdf-backup to make directory sorting easier.
  • Resolved a crash backing up to floppies.
  • Fixed an issue to avoid loss of historical security prices being lost when doing Year End Copy with long file names.
  • Year End Copy: Fixed an issue where a transfer spans a year-end boundary, or when one is reconciled and the other is not. Ensure that both parts of the transfer are kept in the main file.
  • Enabled printing of historical transactions in the Online Center.
  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would not make a payment prior to a future date when trying to pay your bills within Quicken.
  • The One Step Update Summary now shows the number of transactions downloaded in the most recent One Step Update for the FI, in addition to the number needing to be accepted by C2R.
  • Removed incorrect password length restriction message for certain EWC accounts.
  • Fixed an instance where editing a future scheduled paycheck brought up a dialog to edit the split rather than a paycheck.
  • Resolved an issue that could cause scheduled loan payments to not be properly considered by the Tax Planner.
  • Fixed an issue where the calendar did not correctly update for scheduled reminders in future months.
  • The lowest balance forecast for the Bills and Income reminder snapshot now considers transfers in its calculations.
  • The What's left amount on the home screen now properly considers income that is not paychecks. (Transfers and other income).
  • Updated Tax Planner withholding rates to reflect latest IRS rates.
  • Estimated Tax Payments now work correctly in the Tax Planner even if a non-calendar based fiscal year is used.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause scheduled loan payments to not be properly considered by the Tax Planner.
  • January estimated tax payments are now considered in the Tax Planner as payments of the prior year’s taxes.
  • The Tax Planner now considers IRA contributions made from investment accounts.
  • Fixed an issue where renaming a linked cash account would cause the investment account to be removed.
  • Resolved an issue where the Transaction report would not sort by Date and Amount.
  • Reinvested Interest transactions are now included on the Itemized category report.
  • The preference Use Enter to key to move between fields is now enabled for Starter Edition.
  • The preference Use Enter to key to move between fields now only applies to the registers. It no longer changes the behavior of the enter key in the rest of the product.
  • Fix some issues where some user preference may be lost under certain error conditions.
  • Add a hot key to toggle between 1 and 2 line mode in the banking register (Ctrl-2)
  • Resolved an issue with Windows 7, when quicken is installed as an Administrator, and the used in User mode, sounds should now work.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.

Release 5 Notes

  • Fixed an issue where renaming a linked cash account would cause the investment account to be removed.
  • Resolved a problem where the red flag showing transactions to accept would be present even though there were no transactions to accept.
  • Fixed a condition where Quicken would not allow someone to edit the password in the password vault without showing an error.
  • Resolved an issue where a transaction was not appearing in the Register report when sorting by date.
  • Fixed an issue where the report didn’t update correctly after removing the filter by Tax Schedule setting.
  • Resolved a case where Quicken incorrectly prompted you to save a cut transaction when existing.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.

Release 4 Notes

  • Added the capability to change the backup location and name in the Backup dialog.
  • Resolved an issue backing up files to a network drive
  • Changed the backup file name format to yyyy-mm-dd-HH.MM.qdf-backup to make directory sorting easier.
  • Resolved a couple of account setup issues where an existing account does not appear in the list of existing accounts during enablement process for account setup.
  • Fixed a problem where Quicken’s Password Vault UI limited the number of characters that could be entered at 8 for the pin.
  • Added options to enter, skip and edit bill reminders to make it easier to track bills on the “Stay on top of monthly bills snapshot” on the home page.
  • Fixed a bug where reminders for bills and income not appearing in Billminder at Startup on Windows 7.
  • Resolved an issue where reconciling an investment transaction sets the cost basis of the security to 0.
  • Fixed a problem where the selection of Tax Deferred is not being kept in 401k and IRA type accounts while editing the account from the Account Details dialog.
  • Resolved a screen redraw issue where Portfolio View would redraw itself multiple times.
  • Updated Tax Planner to reflect the tax rates and rules for 2010.
  • Fixed an issues where the Itemized Category report is not including dividend income that was reinvested using the Reinvest action
  • Resolved a problem where the Schedule B report incorrectly was including Tax free dividends
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.
  • Fixed screen redraw or instances where the screen would redraw multiple times a several areas in the product.
  • Resolved some instances where the toolbar would disappear while backing up your Quicken Data File
  • Quicken now warns you if you have transaction(s) that you cut from but have not yet pasted back into your registers.
  • Resolved a bug that doesn’t properly update the display of the account list after deleting an account.\
  • Paychecks were brought over as regular split transactions in the register. Now the paycheck form appears when clicking the paycheck entry in the register.
  • Currency was not set correctly if it was not the home currency of the data file.
  • Resolved an instance where transactions would be duplicated when activating accounts for banking or investment statement download after migrating data file from Money.
  • Adding memos that are greater than 64 characters to transaction note per customer suggestion for new Money conversions.

Release 3 Notes

  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would not do multiple backups to a CD.
  • Based on customer feedback, added the capability to overwrite a previous manual backup.
  • Fixed an issue where transactions that were in Compare to Register state prior to upgrading would not appear in Quicken 2010.
  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would advance a Scheduled Reminder when a similar transaction was downloaded in a different account.
  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would not import Web Connect files for certain financial institutions and instead showed an OL-221 error
  • Fixed an issue where the Calendar doesn't show scheduled reminder for when the category is a transfer to another account.
  • Restored the monthly calendar and monthly list views that were in Quicken 2009 into Quicken 2010 screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the Quicken Startup sound would not sound during startup.
  • Resolved a problem where the name for a hidden account on the account bar does not appear under Other group.
  • Based on customer feedback we added the capability to hide the "More from Quicken" tab
  • Resolved a couple of issues where the converter would crash during the conversion of the Money data file.
  • Made it possible for customers to set the Tax Deferred state for the account after it is converted from Money to Quicken.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers.
  • Improved the time it takes to open investment accounts
  • Resolved an issue where Saved Reports would not appear on the Saved Reports menu.

  • Resolved an issue where Quicken would crash while accepting a downloaded payment .
  • Fixed an instance where Quicken appeared that it was froze when setting up an account
  • Improve payee renaming functionality.
  • Fixed an issue where an error occurred when backing up to a network drive.
  • Enhanced the functionality to help find uncategorized transactions and categorize them
  • Resolved an issue where Quicken did not save the page scaling settings for certain printers.
  • Fixed a problem where front to back setting was not being saved between sessions.
  • Resolved several crashes reported by customers
  • Resolved an issue where incorrect previous balance displayed on reconcile report
  • Fixed a bug that caused duplicate names for Saved Reports
