Updated: 8/11/2011 | Article ID: GEN82175

Overview

Quicken Installer displays the message, "You must be logged in as an administrator" when you are not logged in to Microsoft® Windows® 7, Vista, or XP as an administrator, and you try to install or uninstall Quicken.

Instructions

To verify how you are currently logged in:

  1. On the Microsoft® Windows® taskbar, click Start, and then choose Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Select the appropriate option:
    • In Windows 7: single click User Accounts, then single click Manage User Accounts.
    • In Windows Vista: single click User Accounts, then single click User Accounts again.
    • In Windows XP: double-click User Accounts.
  3. Ensure you are listed as an administrator.

If you're not logged in as an administrator, try logging out from your system and logging back in as an administrator, and then try to install or uninstall Quicken again. If you need additional assistance, refer to the manufacturer's instructions for your operating system.
