Error While Installing Quicken: 1722

While attempting to install Quicken, you may receive the following message:

Quicken failed to install - Exit code: 1722


Windows installer service is not running properly or is corrupt.


  1. Restart your computer.
  2. From the Windows Start menu, choose Run.
  3. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER in the Open field, then click OK.
  4. Repeat Step 1 - 2, and this time type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER in the Open field, then click OK.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. After your computer has restarted, try installing Quicken again.


If the text of the 1722 error message includes reference to a problem installing the Quicken PDF printer, ensure that Print Spooling is turned on. For instructions on Print Spooling settings for your specific printer, please visit the support options on your printer manufacturers website.
