How do I install Quicken?

Updated: 9/30/2013 | Article ID: GEN85686

Installing Quicken is a very easy, fast process. In most cases, the installation will start automatically when you insert your CD in the drive. You'll just follow the 3 or 4 steps to install it -- it's like answering questions to a short a survey.  If you have an older version of Quicken on your computer, you don't need to uninstall it first -- Quicken will clean up your old version before installing the new one.

  • What if the CD doesn't start automatically?
    1. Insert the Quicken installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
    2. Click the Start button and select Computer (or My Computer in older versions of Windows).
    3. Right-click the CD drive that contains the Quicken installation CD, and select Explore.
    4. Double-click the install.exe file.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Once you're ready. . .

  1. Insert the Quicken 2014 CD in your CD drive.  It should start automatically.
  2. The first window you'll see says Welcome to Quicken 2014!  Click Next to continue.
  3. The next step is to accept the license agreement.  If you accept, check I agree to the terms... then click Next.
  4. The default location where Quicken will be installed is the destination folder.  This is located on your local hard drive.  Click Next to continue.
  5. We're ready to install.  This window gives you an overview of the install process.  Read over it.  When you're done, click Next.
  6. The next few windows you'll see will show your progress installing Quicken and will install updates, if available.
  7. When complete, you'll see Installation Complete!  Quicken will open when you click Finish.  If you're not ready to open Quicken yet  -- no problem -- uncheck the box next to Start Quicken.

Now that you have Quicken installed, would you like some help setting up your finances?
