Delete or Reset the Password Vault

Updated: 3/31/2014 | Article ID: GEN82151

The Quicken Password Vault is an encrypted file of your various login credentials (Intuit ID, financial passwords, etc.) used to access your financial accounts.  The Password Vault is encrypted and cannot be recovered or removed. This is done to protect your sensitive financial data. If you forget your Vault Password, the only solution is to delete the Vault and re-create it.

To reset the Password Vault, the existing Password Vault must be deleted, and then set up again. You may want to note or print the Passwords in the existing Password Vault before proceeding.

Quicken for Windows

  1. From the Quicken Tools menu, choose Password Vault, and then choose Delete Vault and Saved Passwords.
  2. Click Yes in the message window.

Quicken Mac 2007

  1. Choose Online menu > PIN Vault.
  2. Press and hold the Option key on your keyboard.
  3. Click Delete PIN Vault.
  4. Click Yes.

Note: When you delete the PIN vault, it erases all your account PINs. Be sure you know these PINs before you delete the PIN Vault.

Resetting the Password Vault removes all stored Passwords, erases your Password Vault password, and requires manual entry of passwords. If you would like to use the Password Vault again, you will need to setup the Password Vault again.

Note: Resetting the Password Vault does not change your password information with your financial institution.
