Updated: 8/11/2011 | Article ID: GEN82706

If your financial institution is not on the Financial Institution list, or if you cannot select services offered by your financial institution, the Financial Institution Directory file is probably outdated or incorrect.

To resolve this issue in Quicken for Mac 2007 or older:

  1. Select the Quicken Online menu and select Financial Institutions.

  1. Click Update List.
  2. Activate your accounts.

If the issue persists, update the Financial Institution Directory manually:

  1. Close Quicken
  2. Browse to find your Quicken data file (QDFM) on your computer.
  3. Hold down the control key while clicking the (QDFM) file, and then release the Control key and select Show Package Contents.

  1. Double-click  the Contents folder, and then double-click the FIDir folder.

  1. Hold down the control key while clicking fidir.txt, and then release the Control key and select Move to Trash.
  2. Close the FIDir folder and close the Contents folder
  3. Empty the Trash folder.  (NOTE: You must empty the Trash folder.  Otherwise Quicken will not create a new fidir.txt file.
  4. Select the Online menu and select Financial Institutions.
  5. Click Update List.
  6. Activate your accounts.
