The Can-Global Bond Fund is designed to provide access to one of the largest and most liquid of the world's capital markets - the global government bond market. By combining government bond futures with Canadian treasury bills and money market instruments, the Can-Global Bond Fund delivers the return of approximately 90% of the world's major government bond markets. This method of replicating international market performance in Canadian dollars is gaining wide acceptance by many Canadian pension and mutual funds due to its liquidity and low cost. The cost of running a fund using derivatives is minimized with the use of futures contracts, since these are less expensive to acquire than the actual bonds.
