The fund’s objective is to achieve a balance of income and long term capital growth by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of fixed income and equity mutual funs. The fund gradually shifts its asset mix from a balance of fixed income and equity funds, in its early years, to an emphasis on fixed income funds as its “target” date (2020) approaches. The fund invests in mutual funds managed by Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel Ltd., offering diversification by asset class, geographic region, and investment style and market capitalization. The portfolio manager establishes the target weightings for each asset class according to an asset allocation strategy that becomes increasingly conservative over time. The initial target asset allocation is 50% equities and 50% fixed income. As the fund approaches its target data, the fund gradually shifts its target asset allocation from a balanced of fixed income funds and equity funds to an emphasis on fixed income funds.
